TRANSFER UPDATES: Jets Sign former Chiefs Defensive Tackle In A Blockbuster Deal

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – The New York Jets have signed defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, who contributed to the Chiefs’ victories in three Super Bowls during his seven years in Kansas City. The Jets made the announcement on Tuesday after Nnadi’s agents confirmed the deal on Sunday.

Nnadi joins fellow free agents, edge rusher Rashad Weaver and defensive linemen Jay Tufele and Byron Cowart, in strengthening the Jets’ revamped defensive line under head coach Aaron Glenn and coordinator Steve Wilks. Other key defensive players like Javon Kinlaw (Commanders), Solomon Thomas (Cowboys), and edge rusher Haason Reddick (Buccaneers) left in free agency. At 28, Nnadi was a key run-stopper for the Chiefs since being drafted in the third round by Kansas City out of Florida State in 2018. He has played in 115 regular-season games, starting 87, and appeared in 15 postseason games. Over his career, Nnadi has recorded five sacks, 233 tackles, eight quarterback hits, and one interception, including one sack in the postseason.
