Bills Expected to Pursue New No. 1 Receiver This Offseason
After parting ways with their top two wide receivers last offseason, the Buffalo Bills adopted an “everyone eats” strategy in 2024, distributing targets across multiple pass-catchers. While this approach contributed to one of the league’s most productive offenses, one insider believes the team will prioritize securing a true No. 1 receiver this offseason.
According to The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia, the Bills are likely to target free-agent wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. His speed and big-play ability could fill the void left by Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, offering Buffalo the home-run threat they have been missing.
Potential ‘Game-Changing’ Addition
Buscaglia’s projection suggests that Brown’s arrival could be part of a larger move, including a blockbuster trade for All-Pro edge rusher Myles Garrett. If the Bills bolster their defense with Garrett, adding Brown would similarly enhance their offense.
“With Garrett solidifying the defense and a need for a true No. 1 receiver, Buffalo presents an ideal landing spot for Brown to join another Super Bowl contender after playing just two regular-season games in 2024,” Buscaglia wrote. “For the Bills, his speed and separation skills would be a valuable, cost-effective addition—if he stays healthy.”
Brown’s 2024 campaign was plagued by injuries, limiting him to just nine catches for 91 yards in two games. However, with his 28th birthday approaching in June, he remains an attractive target. Buscaglia speculated that Buffalo could sign him to a two-year, $18 million contract with performance-based incentives.

Bills Weighing Amari Cooper’s Future
Another key offseason decision revolves around Amari Cooper, who was acquired at the trade deadline and is now set to hit free agency. While his production was inconsistent—20 receptions for 297 yards and two touchdowns in eight games—some believe he could return to Buffalo.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Bills appreciated Cooper’s team-first mentality and are interested in seeing how he meshes with quarterback Josh Allen over a full offseason.
“The Bills have been pleased with Cooper despite his lower production,” Fowler wrote. “He has been a strong locker-room presence, and a return to Buffalo remains a possibility.”
Even if Cooper stays, Marquise Brown could still be on Buffalo’s radar. USA Today’s David De Cristofaro pointed out that the Bills still lack a true deep-threat receiver, a role Brown could fill.
“At this stage of Josh Allen’s career, a veteran like Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown at 27 years old is a perfect fit,” De Cristofaro wrote.
