Canadians GM takes a shocking move after Habs disappear after one period in Anaheim

Yeah, the California road trip has been a consistent thorn in the Canadiens’ side, and this loss to Anaheim was another frustrating example. Jumping out to a 2-0 lead should’ve given them a solid foundation, but they just couldn’t sustain it. The Ducks aren’t exactly a powerhouse, yet Montreal let them dictate play for the final two periods.

It’s especially disappointing considering they need to make the most of games like these if they want to stay competitive.

The kind of defensive lapse is maddening, especially when it happens twice on the same player in the same way. It’s one thing to get caught off guard once, but when you allow it to happen again, it speaks to either a lack of awareness or effort.

The shift in high-danger chances really tells the story. They controlled the game early but then completely lost their edge. That’s how you turn a strong start into a frustrating loss. Given how these California trips tend to go for them, this was the kind of game they needed to close out. Instead, it’s another example of them not being able to put together a full 60-minute effort.

Yeah, this trip really couldn’t have come at a worse time, given how shaky their last stretch has been. You’re right—there’s still a good team in there somewhere, but it doesn’t mean much if they can’t put together a full effort. The pattern of blowing leads is becoming a concerning trend, and if they don’t figure it out soon, they’ll find themselves slipping further in the standings.

That said, the Sharks game is a must-win, plain and simple. San Jose has been a disaster this season, and if Montreal plays anywhere near their potential, they should take care of business. But if they take their foot off the gas again, we’ve already seen how that plays out.

If they don’t get it done against San Jose, does that make this trip a total failure in your eyes? Or do you think they can still salvage something against L.A.?

No
