Pat Murphy certainly helped the Brewers stay competitive and secure the NL Central title again in 2024. Winning the division by 10 games is impressive, especially considering how competitive the Central has been in recent seasons. Even though the postseason didn’t end as they hoped, a 93-win season and division championship are strong indicators of a well-run club.
Do you think the Brewers can continue this success into next year? Or are there areas they’ll need to address this offseason to take the next ste
A 29-year-old star could be a game-changer for the Brewers. There are a lot of impactful players around that age who could help Milwaukee bolster their lineup or pitching staff.
In terms of areas to target, the Brewers could look to add a dynamic hitter or a top-end starting pitcher. Their offense can sometimes be inconsistent, so adding a bat with power and the ability to drive in runs would be key. A reliable middle-of-the-order hitter could make a huge difference in their postseason chance.
Adding Dylan Cease would be a bold move for the Brewers, and it would certainly help shore up their rotation after the loss of Corbin Burnes. Cease’s ability to miss bats and his strikeout potential could be a perfect complement to Freddy Peralta at the top of the rotation. Given the Brewers’ strong pitching development system, they could potentially harness Cease’s stuff to elevate his consistency, which has been a bit of a question mark at times in Chicago.
The trade proposal—DL Hall and Jefferson Quero—makes some sense from a Brewers’ perspective. Hall still has upside but hasn’t fully realized his potential yet, and the Brewers could be willing to move him in exchange for a proven arm like Cease. Quero, as a top prospect, might be a tough one to part with, but if the Brewers are serious about competing for a deep postseason run, adding a frontline starter like Cease could be worth it.
For the Padres, though, losing Cease for Hall and Quero might not feel like a huge win unless they see a massive ceiling in Hall’s development or Quero’s future behind the plate.
Do you think the Brewers should pull the trigger on a trade like this? Or would they be better off seeking a more established solution or focusing on internal options?
