However, everything turned out to be false because Ohtani was at his California home. The jet they were tracing belonged to Robert Herjavec, a billionaire and investor from the famous show “Shark Tank.”
After the Ohtani-to-Blue Jays saga died down, the two-time AL MVP quickly signed a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the richest deal in professional sports history.

Perhaps still stung from losing out on Ohtani, the Blue Jays are reportedly willing to throw money at another generational talent: Juan Soto.
NJ.com reports. Once the offseason begins, Toronto will make Soto a “astronomical offer” — maybe in the $600 million bracket over 15 years. One of Soto’s former colleagues, who has the same agent, Scott Boras, told the publication that the Blue Jays will make a significant bid for the superstar.
After the Yankees’ Game 3 ALDS win over the Royals, Juan Soto responded to reports about contract talks, stating he wasn’t aware of any discussions, as they can’t happen during the postseason. Soto had an impressive regular season with a 7.8 WAR and 41 home runs, but teammate Aaron Judge’s MVP performance outshone him. Soto is projected to land a significant contract in the offseason, potentially around 14 years and $560 million. The Yankees will now face the Tigers or Guardians in the ALCS.
