Wright said on Instagram that he has been battling with a triceps ailment since the joint practice against the Minnesota Vikings in August. The ailment got progressively worse, and Wright underwent surgery on Thursday in Dallas, bringing his 2024 season to an end.

In his post, Wright wrote:

“After the Jacksonville game, I had an MRI on my triceps since I was experiencing pain from a strain in the same area during joint practice with the Vikings. It became a freak accident because I didn’t even utilize my right arm during the play. So even after finding out about it, I pushed through the discomfort.

“Fast ahead. I had my last MRI, and it has gotten worse from a partial tear. I will miss the rest of the season due to surgery. Anyone who knows me knows that I adore football, but 91 will undoubtedly be satisfactory. Everything happens for a purpose and is part of God’s plan. “91’s coming back with a mean (expletive) vengeance, and I promise you I’ll stamp that!”

The Browns selected Wright in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He is a rotational defensive end who has appeared in 37 games, starting six, and has 61 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and six sacks.

The season highlight came in Week 2 when Wright sacked quarterback Trevor Lawrence for a safety late in Cleveland’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cleveland has yet to make a decision to fill Wright’s roster space. In his absence, defensive end Isaiah McGuire is anticipated to get more play in the rotation, which includes starters Myles Garrett and Za’Darius Smith, as well as Ogbo Okoronkwo.
