EXCLUSIVE: Cleveland Browns Reportedly Named Potential Suitor For This Veteran Star

The Cleveland Browns have had a mixed start to their 2024 season, going 1-1 as they prepare for a Week 3 matchup against the New York Giants. Quarterback Deshaun Watson has received varied feedback from the fanbase, reflecting inconsistency in his performances.

Bryce Young Is 'Pissed' After Panthers Benching for Andy Dalton, per Report

While the Browns are looking to build momentum, Watson’s form will be key to how the team performs moving forward. Fans are hoping for more consistent play from him to push the team deeper into the season.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Alabama, was recently benched in favor of veteran Andy Dalton. Young’s performance in the first few games has sparked speculation about his future, with some suggesting a change of scenery might benefit him. As a highly touted prospect, Young has faced challenges adjusting to the NFL, but the benching could be a temporary measure to give him time to develop while Dalton provides experience at the helm.

The Cleveland Browns Could Be a Team Who Pursues Carolina Panthers Quarterback Bryce Young

As long as Deshaun Watson’s performance remains uncertain, the Browns may continue to be linked with other quarterback options. Pro Football Network’s Dallas Robinson mentioned Bryce Young as a potential candidate for the Browns, one of five teams he could see landing the young quarterback. While Cleveland currently has Jameis Winston as the backup, his inconsistent NFL career leaves room for speculation. Young, benched in favor of Andy Dalton, might benefit from a change of scenery, making Cleveland a possible destination if they seek new QB options.

Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network suggests that while Deshaun Watson has struggled for the Browns this season, trading for Bryce Young might actually be a downgrade, given Young’s even worse performance in key metrics like EPA per dropback. With Watson’s fully guaranteed contract limiting Cleveland’s financial flexibility, they may have to explore affordable alternatives at quarterback. Robinson also noted that other quarterbacks like Daniel Jones and Will Levis have similarly underperformed, making it a tough decision for the Browns to find a better option.

Browns Should Not Make a Move Unless Injury Occurs

The Cleveland Browns should avoid making a move for Bryce Young or any other quarterback as long as Deshaun Watson or the others on the roster remain healthy. Despite Watson’s struggles, he still has much more upside than Young, who is currently a “broken” quarterback needing significant development. The Browns also have a favorable upcoming schedule, positioning them for potential success in the AFC North. All they need is for Watson to manage the game effectively and avoid turnovers, making a quarterback trade unnecessary.
