Another is in the mix for Clemson’s 2026 recruiting class.

Shavar Young Jr. (Knoxville, Tenn.), a 247Sports Composite four-star athlete, committed to the Tigers on Friday night over Tennessee, Kentucky, and Oregon, among others. He came to campus earlier this week with Mike Reed; Clemson is recruiting Young as a cornerback.

Young is Tennessee’s No. 8 player, according to 247Sports.

This was far from his first visit. Young has been to campus a few times throughout the years. He first tented at Dabo Swinney’s annual summer gathering in eighth grade.

His commitment ranks second in the Tigers’ 2026 class. On July 7, Tait Reynolds (Queen Creek, Arizona), a four-star quarterback according to 247Sports Composite, made his commitment to Clemson.

Young started high school at Webb School in Knoxville and transferred to Brentwood Academy (Tennessee) last year. He is presently back at Webb for his junior season. Last season, he made 84 receptions for 1,130 yards and nine touchdowns. He also recorded 17 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and one interception.

The Tigers will most likely attempt to add one more cornerback during the 2026 cycle. The two current outstanding offers at the cornerback position are to Samari Matthews (Cornelius, N.C.) and Chaston Smith (Chattanooga, Tenn.). Clemson has one commit in the 2025 class, four-star Graceson Littleton (Tampa, Fla.).
