Hugh Freeze, Auburn football’s head coach, took to the platform Thursday morning to preview his team before the start of fall camp.

The Tigers enter camp with a relatively healthy roster, but Freeze provided an update on who they do not expect to start camp.

Kicker Alex McPherson is still unable to participate due to a stomach sickness. Freeze stated that McPherson is “getting better,” but he has not yet been cleared to return.

McPherson was Auburn’s starting kicker last season, and he made all 13 field goals.

The other offensive line news came from Freeze, who said redshirt freshman tackle Tyler Johnson will miss the first two sessions due to a hamstring ailment.

“He’s really close to being able to come back,” Freeze stated at his pre-practice news conference.

Johnson appeared in three games last season, but Freeze addressed him during SEC Media Days when discussing options at left tackle.

Auburn’s only other notable injury is defensive back Tyler Scott, who suffered an ACL injury during summer workouts and will miss the season, according to Freeze in early July.
