Steelers makes another late signing of WR following Roman Wilson injury

After promising rookie receiver Roman Wilson suffered a sprained ankle on Tuesday, which could sideline him for the rest of the summer, the Steelers quickly added another wideout to their offseason roster.

Michigan football Tarik Black speed in space offense

The team confirmed wide receiver Tarik Black’s signing on Wednesday morning. Jonathan Marshall, a defensive lineman, was waived in the matching roster move.

Black was among three receivers who worked out with the Steelers on July 23. Here’s what we wrote about him then.

In 2021, Black went undrafted out of Texas and signed with the Indianapolis Colts. At his pro day, Black, a large receiver at 6’3 and 215 pounds, ran a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, as well as a 42-inch vertical and an 11-foot leap. However, he has struggled to combine all of those talents, making only 10 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown in his senior year of college. He has only appeared in one NFL game, caught two passes, and gained 10 yards. Black has spent time with the Jets and Ravens since being released by the Colts.

Black, who is now on the Steelers’ roster, is one of many roster bubble receivers who will have the opportunity to impress during the next preseason.
