John Mousinho is adamant Pompey haven’t lost out on any of their targets as the wait to make big signings before Friday

As the wait for signings continues, Pompey manager John Mousinho is certain that the club has not lost any of its objectives.
And Mousinho pointed out that a slow transfer market this summer affects most clubs, not only the Blues.

Pompey established a fast recruitment pace when the transfer window opened last month, following Jordan Williams’ arrival on the opening day of business with four further signings.

Reuben Swann, Jordan Archer, Josh Murphy, and Sammy Silvera are the other new arrivals, but it’s been over three weeks since Silvera’s loan move from Middlesbrough was revealed.

In that time, Zak Swanson has agreed to a new contract, while Pompey is awaiting confirmation of the arrival of Australian left-back Jacob Farrell from the Central Coast Mariners, who has an agreement in place.

Pompey face a tough opener against Leeds United this Saturday, two weeks before the start of the Championship season.

The season will then continue for another three weeks before the summer window closes.

Supporters are eager for acquisitions, but Mousinho’s encouraging message is that the Blues have missed out on NONE of their top targets this summer.

He stated, ‘It’s still very slow, as has been the market as a whole. At the present, we are being patient with several deals.

‘Where we are is that we’re still in a very good position with a lot of the agreements we want to close.

‘The best way I can explain it is that when we make our lists for specific positions at the beginning of the summer, we aim for the top of the list.

‘So we’re not missing out on any deals; it’s simply that the market is quiet and teams are holding on to players for a little longer.

‘Club’s demands are whatever they are, so we need to make sure we get the best deal there as well.

‘So we’re quite satisfied with where we are because the goals are still there. They haven’t disappeared.
