At SEC Media Days, the Tennessee Volunteers had two players named to the preseason All-SEC team by the media.

SEC reporters Days in Dallas, Texas concluded on Thursday, when reporters in attendance cast their votes for conference rankings and who they believe would win the conference. The Tennessee Volunteers were voted seventh in the conference, and they received 0 votes to win it. Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, LSU, and South Carolina all received votes.

The media also voted on the preseason All-SEC team, which included two Tennessee players: center Cooper Mays and edge rusher James Pearce Jr. Mays attended media days with head coach Josh Heupel and was a key component for the program, which decided to renew for another season. Nico Iamaleava will start as quarterback for the Volunteers this season, which will be his first year as a starter, so any experience Tennessee can get early on will be invaluable.
