BREAKING NEWS: Just In, Boston Bruins GM Have Confirmed The Signing Of Yet Another Standout Experience Defenseman

Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced on Friday that the organization has signed defensemen Michael Callahan and Alec Regula to one-year, two-way contracts with a salary cost hit of $775,000.

Callahan, 24, played 70 games for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League during the 2023-24 season, scoring four goals and assisting 13 times. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound defenseman has played 140 AHL games, all with Providence, scoring six goals and 21 assists. Callahan played 138 games for Providence College over four seasons, scoring 13 goals and assisting 53 times. The Arizona Coyotes chose the Franklin, Massachusetts native in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL selection, and Boston acquired him in a trade for a seventh-round selection pick on February.

Regula, 23, played 55 games with the Providence Bruins in 2023-24, scoring four goals and 22 assists while earning a plus-36 rating. The 6-foot-4, 218-pound defenseman has appeared in 163 AHL games with Providence and the Rockford IceHogs, scoring 16 goals and 61 assists for a plus-42 rating. Regula has also appeared in 22 NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring one goal. The West Bloomfield, Michigan native was picked by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round (67th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft and was traded to Boston on June 26, 2003, along with defenseman Ian Mitchell, for forwards Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno.
