A former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder has returned to the free agent market.

David Peralta, who signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs this offseason, has opted out of his contract and chosen free agency, according to the minor league transaction log.

Peralta, 36, was with the Dodgers in 2023 and appeared in 133 games. He slashed.259/.294/.381, with seven home runs and 55 RBI. However, after his one-year contract expired, the Dodgers decided not to renew him.

Peralta faced a relatively quiet free agent market and was forced to accept a minor league contract in Chicago. Peralta played in 20 Triple-A games this season and slashed.217/.341/.348 with two homers and eight RBI.

Peralta chose to return to free agency, where he will most likely have to sign another minor league contract unless he hears from a team that wants to add him for the veteran’s minimum.

Peralta has been in the MLB for ten years and has a career.The average is 283 with 110 home runs and 468 RBIs.
