In the 2025 cycle, the Florida Gators have a long list of offers for the wide receiver position. UF has wanted to add a deeper class of pass catchers, and among them, adding an X receiver type with some size has been a priority for the coaching. Joshua Moore, a three-star wide receiver from West Broward in Pembroke Pines, Florida, has been one of the coaching staff’s primary targets for the 2025 class.
After a couple trips to UF this year alone, his choice came down to Florida or Florida State. Moore was eager to make his college decision after visiting the Gators on Friday. That decision was disclosed on Wednesday, when he chose Florida.
“Florida, I feel like it feels more homey,” Moore remarked before stating why he chose the Gators. “I’m not too far from home, but far enough away. I feel like I can grow here. I could improve as a man and on the field. That is why I selected Florida.
Moore, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 205 pounds, is an ideal candidate for the X receiving position. Billy Gonzales, UF wide receivers coach, has a long history of coaching college players who have gone on to play professionally. Many of the names on Gonzales’ portfolio are similar in stature to Moore, so he’s confident in his ability to develop in Gainesville.
“I feel like from what he’s showed me, the proof is in the pudding with who he is as a coach,” he stated concerning Gonzales. “He’s shown me some of the big/tall individuals he’s developed, including me. Guys who are 6-3 or taller and weigh around 200 pounds, like me. I believe his development is evident and speaks for itself. I believe we have a fantastic relationship as well.
Moore’s game still has some flaws, but he has produced for his high school over the last two seasons. Moore has 100 receptions, 1,869 receiving yards, and 20 touchdowns during his sophomore and junior years.
With Moore on board, the Gators’ 2025 recruiting class now has seven commitments. Along with Moore, the Gators class consists of Tallahassee (Florida). James Rickards’ four-star advantage Jalen Wiggins, Tampa (Florida) Waltez Clark, a four-star running back from Havana, Florida, Gadsden County’s three-star defensive linemen Jeramiah McCloud of Madison (MS) Micah Jones, Fulshear (TX) is a Central three-star tight end. Katy Jordan Chad Gasper, a three-star running back, and Hayden Craig, a three-star punter from Bridgton Academy in Maine.
Moore is presently ranked 47th among wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports. Moore ranks substantially better in the 247Sports Composite, an industry-generated average recruitment ranking. He ranked 196th overall and 25th among wide receivers in the 2025 class.
