Eli Tomac’s 2025 season hasn’t gone according to plan—but if there’s one thing fans have learned about the veteran rider, it’s to never count him out. While officially sidelined from the upcoming Supercross rounds, including this weekend’s stop in Philadelphia, Tomac isn’t done just yet. In fact, he’s quietly gearing up for what could be one of the most anticipated comebacks of the season.

Tomac, who suffered a broken fibula during qualifying in Tampa back in February, has been steadily recovering and recently returned to riding his Yamaha YZ450F at his private track in Colorado. The update alone was enough to spark excitement across the motocross world, but his latest statement suggests even bigger things might be on the horizon.
Though ruled out for most of the remaining Supercross season, Tomac remains optimistic about potentially lining up for the season finale in Salt Lake City on May 10. It’s a long shot, but knowing Tomac’s grit and determination, it’s not entirely out of the question.
“Back at it,” Tomac posted on Instagram. “Goal as of now is [Pro Motocross] Round 1, would love to sneak in the last round of SX, but we’ll see where the next couple of weeks take us.”
All Eyes on Pro Motocross
Regardless of whether he makes a surprise appearance in Salt Lake City, Tomac’s primary focus is now set on the Pro Motocross season, which kicks off at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, on May 24. The four-time Pro Motocross champion is eager to get back to what he does best—chasing podiums in the great outdoors.
After missing several Supercross rounds, Tomac currently sits 15th in the combined Supercross and Motocross standings. Importantly, that position keeps him inside the critical top-20 cutoff needed for direct qualification into the SuperMotocross World Championship playoffs later this year.
With time ticking and Tomac back on the bike, the stage is set for a thrilling return. Whether it happens under the lights in Salt Lake City or in the California sunshine at Fox Raceway, one thing’s for sure: Eli Tomac isn’t finished yet.
And if history has taught us anything, it’s that when Tomac gets rolling, he’s one of the most dangerous riders in the sport. Stay tuned—because the next chapter in the No. 3’s comeback story is about to be written.
