NFL Network personality Kyle Brandt didn’t earn his spot on “Good Morning Football” by offering gloomy or pessimistic football analysis. This isn’t a criticism of his expertise but rather highlights the enthusiasm he brings to the show. From his “angry run” segments to his unmatched passion for the sport, Brandt is adored not just for his knowledge but also for his ability to energize fans.
However, when he expresses concerns about a decision, it can carry weight.

On Tuesday, the New York Giants made a move to sign quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year contract, positioning him as the likely starting quarterback. The signing drew criticism from the typically upbeat Brandt, adding some uncertainty to an already shaky situation.
“I don’t want to be the downer here, but let’s not be so naive and gullible as to say, ‘Wow, this is fantastic!’” Brandt remarked.
“Daniel Jones, the former Giants quarterback, had more interest in free agency this year than Russell Wilson did. And Jones is making more money with the Colts than Wilson is.”
“Russell Wilson is here because the Giants missed out on Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers. They needed someone, so they settled for him.”
Wilson had a promising start to his Pittsburgh Steelers career, playing 11 regular season games, winning six of his first seven starts, and throwing 16 touchdowns with just five interceptions. However, his season took a turn for the worse, ending with five consecutive losses (including a Wild Card Round defeat) and no offer to return for the 2025 season. “I don’t want to just completely criticize this. It’s a really fun, positive, and optimistic perspective,” Brandt said. On paper, Wilson’s contract—valued at $10.5 million with the potential to reach $21 million through incentives—is quite reasonable. It’s rare to find a bad one-year deal in the NFL, and Wilson brings more reliability to the table than backup Jameis Winston and other free agents, aside from Aaron Rodgers.
