The New York Jets are in the market for a starting tight end following the departure of Tyler Conklin, who recently signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency. To fill the void, they appear to be all-in on Penn State’s Tyler Warren, one of the top tight end prospects in next month’s NFL Draft.
While New York has a few tight ends on the roster—Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt, Zack Kuntz, and Neal Johnson—none have established themselves as clear starters. Collectively, they have just one touchdown to their name.
Given this pressing need, the Jets could use their seventh overall pick in the first round to select a tight end. Warren is high on their radar, but he has also drawn interest from teams across the league. However, he is expected to still be available when the Jets make their selection.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 256 pounds, Warren is an imposing athlete. Last season, he hauled in 104 receptions for 1,223 yards and eight touchdowns for Penn State, which narrowly missed a College Football Playoff Championship appearance. Additionally, Warren showcased his versatility by rushing for four touchdowns, proving to be a dangerous weapon near the goal line.
