JUST IN: Veteran Defender Re-sign For Panthers In A Blockbuster Deal

After losing out on defensive tackle Milton Williams, the Carolina Panthers have made several moves this offseason, though none have been particularly big. To continue their free agency activity, the Panthers re-signed one of their own, bringing back safety Nick Scott, according to Adam Schefter on X.

“Panthers have finalized a one-year deal with veteran safety and special teams contributor Nick Scott,” Schefter reported. “He returns to Carolina.”

After being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Scott spent four seasons with the team, not starting a game until his third year.

In 2021, Scott made one start, but by 2022, he secured a starting role and played in all 16 games he appeared in.

Once his four-year rookie contract ended, Scott joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 2023, participating in 17 games and starting 10.

In 2024, Scott signed with the Panthers, hoping to strengthen a defense that had ranked third-best against the pass in 2023 — the year before he joined.

Versatile in the secondary, Scott took on different roles during his only season with the Panthers in 2024.
