After spending a season with the Cincinnati Bengals, veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown is heading to Houston. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Friday via X that Brown has agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million with the Houston Texans.

This move brings Brown back to his home state of Texas, where he was born. The Texans traded away Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil during the offseason and are now working to strengthen their tackle positions.
When healthy, Brown is a reliable starter, but staying healthy has been a significant challenge for him. Over the past five seasons, he’s played in more than 10 games only twice.
At one point, Brown was regarded as one of the top tackles in the NFL. In 2019, the Las Vegas Raiders signed him to a four-year, $66 million deal, and he earned a Pro Bowl selection in his first season despite playing just 11 games. However, the Raiders became frustrated with his injury issues and traded him back to the New England Patriots. Those injury concerns persisted, and last season with the Bengals, he played in only three games.
The Texans are in dire need of strong offensive line play, and while Brown’s health remains uncertain, if he stays on the field, he could be a valuable addition to their roster.
