JUST IN: Controversy As Dwight Howard Set To Reunite With The Lakers

Lakers fans holding out hope for a Dwight Howard reunion can breathe easy and let go of their wishes… the former NBA star told TMZ Sports that there is no chance he’ll be re-signing with Los Angeles.Many Lakers fans have been pushing for the team to pursue the big man after the Anthony Davis-for-Luka Doncic trade… but when we caught up with Howard in Los Angeles this week, he made it clear that it’s just not going to happen.

Although he seemed to show some interest in rejoining the team on X after the big trade, Howard told us at LAX that he’s now four years removed from an NBA roster and is happy spending time at home with his kids.

“I’m always ready,” he said, “but there’s more to life than basketball.”

Howard, who last played professionally with the Taoyuan Taiwan Beer Leopards in the 2022-23 season, made it clear he doesn’t think the Lakers are interested either, saying bluntly, “Lakers not calling me, brother.”Howard had three stints with the Lakers (2012, 2019, 2021) during his storied career and won an NBA Championship alongside LeBron James during the COVID-shortened season. He was wearing his championship ring during our conversation, and although he won’t be rejoining the team this season, he still believes L.A. “got a real shot” at winning another title this year.
