JUST IN: Veteran Offensive Tackle Join Texans In A Blockbuster Deal

Cam Robinson had been frequently mentioned in connection with the New England Patriots’ apparent need for a top left tackle. However, the former Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings lineman will not be joining the Patriots or reuniting with his former coach, Doug Marrone. Instead, Robinson has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. According to a report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the contract is worth $12 million, with the potential to reach $14.5 million through incentives.

NFL free agency: Texans sign veteran OT Cam Robinson to one-year deal

At 29, Robinson was considered a potential fit for New England due to his connection with Marrone, who drafted him in 2017 while he was the head coach of the Jaguars. Marrone, now the Patriots’ offensive line coach, used the 34th overall pick to select the Alabama product.

Despite this connection and the Patriots currently having Vederian Lowe as their starting left tackle — along with the means to make a move — New England chose not to bring Robinson in to compete for the position.
