TRANSFER UPDATE: Seahawks Set To Land A Wide Receiver

The Seahawks may still be looking to bolster their receiving corps with veteran talent, as reports indicate they are set to host former Cowboy Michael Gallup, who is aiming for a comeback after missing the previous season. NFL writer Aaron Wilson first shared the news of Gallup’s visit, which was later confirmed by The Seattle Times. Gallup, who turned 29 on March 4, spent six seasons with the Cowboys from 2018 to 2023, recording 66 catches for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns during his best season in 2019. After suffering an ACL injury in 2021, his production declined over the next two years, accumulating 73 catches for 842 yards in 31 games during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He was released after the 2023 season and signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders in April. However, Gallup announced his retirement in July and did not play in 2024. Earlier this month, NFL Network reported that Gallup is attempting a comeback, and he recently visited the Washington Commanders.

Gallup’s time in Dallas coincided with Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde’s stint with the Cowboys. Durde worked in Dallas from 2021 to 2023 as the defensive line coach. Although he didn’t coach Gallup directly, it’s likely they have some level of connection. Last week, the Seahawks brought in Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Cooper Kupp to bolster their receiving corps after losing DK Metcalf (who was traded to the Steelers) and Tyler Lockett (who was released). Gallup, standing at 6-foot-1 and 198 pounds, primarily played as an outside receiver in Dallas, which sets him apart from Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who mainly played in the slot, and makes him more similar to Valdes-Scantling.
