The New England Patriots have entered the official start of NFL free agency without making a major offensive acquisition. However, head coach Mike Vrabel remains optimistic, suggesting that the team is only getting started. While they didn’t land a star on offense, they made significant moves on defense, utilizing their salary cap effectively. The Patriots signed Super Bowl-winning defensive tackle Milton Williams, former first-round pick and defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, another defensive tackle in Khyiris Tonga, veteran cornerback Carlton Davis, pass rushers Robert Spillane and Harold Landry, and safety Marcus Epps. Additionally, the team holds nine draft picks, including the 4th overall selection.

Although Vrabel secured experienced backup quarterback Joshua Dobbs and wide receiver Mack Hollins to improve the depth chart, the Patriots’ offseason efforts are still ongoing. Vrabel emphasized that the team will focus on improving the offensive line and wide receiver positions through free agency, exploring options with other teams and potentially turning to the draft. He stressed that there’s plenty of time left and that it’s never too late to make moves.
The Patriots had shown interest in acquiring big-name offensive players, such as wide receivers Chris Godwin, DK Metcalf, and Davante Adams, but were unable to secure any deals. Despite this, Vrabel’s attitude suggests that New England will continue to make moves in the 2025 offseason.
