Safety Damar Hamlin and the Buffalo Bills have reached an agreement on a one-year contract extension. The team made the announcement on Wednesday, but the financial details were not disclosed.
Hamlin, who will turn 27 later this month, played in 14 games (all starts) for the Bills last season, marking a significant comeback after suffering a cardiac arrest from a hit to the chest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, 2023. He was gradually reintroduced into play during the 2023 season, appearing in five games, mostly in special teams. However, last season, Hamlin played 98% of the snaps at safety in the games he participated in.

In 2024, Hamlin recorded 89 tackles, including two for a loss, recovered a fumble, broke up five passes, and made two interceptions, the first of his career. The Bills drafted Hamlin in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft after his college career at Pitt. He has accumulated 184 tackles in 48 career games, with 27 starts.
