Darius Slayton will remain with the Giants. According to ESPN, the 28-year-old wide receiver re-signed with the team when the NFL’s legal free agent tampering period began on Monday. While the exact details are still unclear, the deal is reportedly a three-year, $36 million contract.

Slayton, a six-year NFL veteran, was selected by the Giants in the fifth round of the 2019 draft (171st overall). Since then, he has developed into a reliable No. 2 receiver alongside rookie standout Malik Nabers. In 2023, Slayton posted career-high numbers as the top receiver, accumulating 770 yards and four touchdowns on 50 receptions. His performance dipped slightly in the following season, with 573 yards and two touchdowns on 39 catches, though this can largely be attributed to the Giants’ struggling offense, which went through four different quarterbacks.
General manager Joe Schoen is focused on securing stability at quarterback this offseason. It remains to be seen whether a rookie like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, or a veteran such as Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers, will be throwing to Slayton and his teammates next season.
With Slayton’s extension, the Giants have addressed a key offseason need at the WR2 position. Had he not re-signed, it was unclear whether Schoen would pursue another free agent, draft a rookie, or turn to an internal option like Jalin Hyatt to fill that spot. Now, that question has been settled.
