Difficult Decisions Ahead for Bills and James Cook
The Buffalo Bills are facing tough choices this offseason, including the future of running back James Cook. Despite back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and leading the league in rushing touchdowns, Cook’s contract situation remains uncertain as he enters the final year of his deal.
Cook has expressed his desire for a contract worth around $15 million per year, stating, “I just feel like we’re deserving of it. Like, why not? We work all of our life to get paid. Feed me the big bucks. I want to go chase the highest of the highest and I’m going to keep doing it.”

However, the Bills have limited salary cap space and may need to release players to stay under the cap. Additionally, Buffalo has depth at the running back position, which could impact Cook’s leverage in negotiations.
While Cook has been productive, few teams are likely to offer him the $15 million he seeks. The question remains whether the Bills and Cook can reach a long-term agreement or if parting ways is inevitable.
