The Echo understands that the England youth set-up at St George’s is pleased with the decision and agrees that Rigg, who has played 15 games for Sunderland this season, needs a break after representing the Three Lions during the last two international breaks. The player is also pleased with the decision.

Rigg missed last month’s game against Queens Park Rangers due of chest trouble. The player was promptly submitted for tests, which came back negative, and Rigg was permitted to play against Preston North End and Coventry City. All parties involved, however, are delighted for the young prodigy to take a well-deserved break over the international time.
