The Cleveland Browns had a chance to tie the Philadelphia Eagles late in Sunday’s game, driving into Eagles territory with less than four minutes left. But Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski chose to try for a field goal on fourth down, which backfired as the Browns never touched the ball again in the 20-16 loss. The contentious decision is now being questioned, with some arguing that it may be time for the Browns to split ways with their head coach.
The loss pushed the Browns to 1-5, putting them in jeopardy of being eliminated from playoff contention before the halfway point of the season. For several supporters, the choice was reminiscent of the franchise’s worst point, when they won only one game in two seasons from 2016 to 2017.
“Stefanski kicking a FG to go down 4 and not getting the ball back is the moment we went back to being the old Browns,” a fan wrote on X.TV. “Full on regress to 1-31 days. Just fire everybody. “It is over.” “This Cleveland Browns team is a total embarrassment,” one fan said in a post on X. “There are no improvements week after week. Stefanski needs to leave.” Others pointed out that the Browns squandered one of quarterback Deshaun Watson’s best performances this season.
“You can blame Deshaun all you want but he was perfect in the second half of a tied game,” a fan wrote on Instagram. “The Browns lost the game because of Kevin Stefanski. He’s either fired and replaced by Mike Vrable, or he’s giving up play calling for the rest of the season.”
Question: Will you stick with Deshaun Watson?
