The New Orleans Saints are certainly open to adding a playmaker to their offense before this year’s trade deadline. Former All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams has a history with Derek Carr, and the Saints might be a potential destination for him in the coming weeks.
Saints remain a contender for Davante Adams
According to Jordan Schultz, the Raiders prefer to trade Davante Adams “sooner rather than later.” However, they will not rush into a deal just to finish it. They prefer not to take on any money remaining on his contract, but this will likely reduce the compensation they receive in return.

A trade to the Saints would compel Vegas to pay a portion of Adams’ contract for this season. They just do not have enough capital available right now (just over $2.6 million). Other moves might be made to boost that amount, but the Raiders are unlikely to get off easy if they deal him to the Saints.
The New York Jets have enough cap room to complete the transaction without Vegas paying a portion of his contract. They are considered the second favorite to land Adams.
Many league sources feel Vegas will eventually receive a third-round pick for the receiver, but they are now seeking a second-round pick and more for him.

However, the Saints have not yet backed down. They are seen as the most aggressive suitor for an Adams deal thus far.
But it’s been the New Orleans Saints who have been the most aggressive, while other teams, notably the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, have constantly followed the situation and maintained in touch. The Jets remain very much in the mix, as well.

How soon may New Orleans, New York, or a wildcard team get the wideout?
NFL expert Dianna Russini, among others, believes the Raiders would prefer to trade him this week. That is, assuming they receive the correct offer.
Since last week, I’ve had several chats regarding where Adams might be traded. But the more critical concern right now is: When will he land? The Raiders and the receiver want to find a new home for him within the next 48 hours.
Will they get the compensation they want in an Adams deal? It remains to be seen.
Regardless, the Saints’ offense could make a massive addition before they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.
