Shedeur Sanders made headlines again on Saturday, leading Colorado to a thrilling victory over Baylor. Sanders fired a historic 43-yard Hail Mary throw in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, forcing overtime.
The Buffaloes would go on to score another touchdown in overtime, sealing a hard-fought 38-31 triumph. However, this was far from an easy victory for Colorado. They trailed 24-17 at halftime after allowing the Bears to score 21 points in the second quarter. Sanders and the Buffaloes had to dig deep in this game to secure their third victory of the season.
Shedeur was asked after the game where he gets his resilience. The 22-year-old attributes his capacity to overcome adversity to his parents.
“You don’t have an option,” he said. “That comes from your parents and how you were raised. You do not have the option to fail. That is not negotiable. When people ask, ‘What’s your Plan B? No, it’s just football. “That’s the only plan.” Shedeur would then reveal a personal detail about his father, eight-time All-Pro defensive back Deion Sanders, and how the Hall of Famer has not given his son any free passes. “I don’t have a trust fund,” Shedeur explained. “Dad didn’t set me up well like that. But I’ll be sure to set up my children with a trust fund and everything.”

While Shedeur may have reaped the benefits of growing up as the son of an NFL hero, Deion wants his son to earn everything on his own. Based on his confession here, Shedeur isn’t expecting any favors from Mom and Dad, at least in terms of a trust fund. The good news for Shedeur is that he’s doing fairly well for himself.
