The Bears announced on Friday that receiver Keenan Allen (heel/personal), fullback Khari Blasingame (hand/knee), running back Travis Homer (finger), and defensive tackle Zacch Pickens (groin) will miss Sunday’s game against the Colts in Indianapolis.
After being unable to practice this week, Allen and Blasingame will miss their second consecutive games, while Pickens will miss his third. Homer will be placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to address a finger damage sustained during practice this week, according to Bears coach Matt Eberflus.
Allen’s ailment does not appear to be long-term.
“His heel [is] improving,” Eberflus added. “He’s working with the trainers again. Speeds are improving. Cutting and moving are all better.
“He’ll be ready when his body says so. We have a great training staff, and they’re working hard to get him back as quickly as possible. Keenan has been working hard to get it done. He’s been on the field. He’s been moving and cutting. “We’ll see how it goes next week.”
The only Bears player labeled as doubtful on the injury report is right guard Nate Davis, who was limited Friday for the third day in a row.
“Injured his groin, tweaked it a little bit on Wednesday,” Eberflus told me. “But he was working back in there today.” “We’ll see where that is at game time.”
If Davis is unable to play, veteran Matt Pryor is a potential replacement. The 6-7, 332-pounder signed with the Bears in March after spending his first six NFL seasons with the Eagles (2018-20), Colts (2021-22), and 49ers (2023), totaling 75 games and 24 starts.
“He is a large human being, for sure,” Eberflus stated. “He takes up some space in there.” But he’s greatly improved. He is one of our most developed linemen. I know he’s been playing, but we’ve seen a significant improvement in him and what he’s brought to the table in terms of work ethic, intensity, and as a teammate. I’m super excited for him if he’s working in there with Nate or anything. We’ll see as we get closer to the game, but he’s had a great work week.”
The Colts’ defensive end Laiatu Latu (hip) and receiver Michael Pittman (back/calf) are both listed as questionable. DeForest Buckner, a star defensive tackle, will not play after being placed on injured reserve Wednesday due to an ankle injury.
