Kevin Durant also made history as the 1st men’s basketball player to win 4 gold medals.
Team USA men’s basketball won gold on Saturday, led by Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
Stephen Curry has declared for years that he wants to win a gold medal, and he is finally an Olympic winner for the first time.
Curry finished the game with eight 3-pointers and 24 points, four of which came in a two-minute stretch in the fourth quarter, including his legendary “night night” gesture following the dagger.
Team USA won their fifth gold medal in a row, defeating host team France 98-87.
Curry becomes the fifth NBA player in history to have won at least four championships, two Most Valuable Player Awards, and an Olympic gold medal. He joins LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Bill Russell.
He is also the fifth Golden State player to earn a gold medal as part of Team USA, joining current teammate Draymond Green and former Warriors Kevin Durant, Chris Mullin, and Klay Thompson.
Durant made history as the first men’s basketball player to win four gold medals.
Golden State is one of three NBA organizations, along with the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers, that has had five different players win Olympic gold medals with Team USA while on the roster.
