Alabama football is hoping to wrap up a busy summer with a few potential commitments.
Two guys still need to commit before the Crimson Tide begins fall camp. Here’s a glance at the prospects:
Akylin Dear – 4-Star RB
Dear has risen to the top of the discourse after Caleb Cunningham and Ty Haywood committed to Alabama, and Derek Meadows selected the Tigers over the Tide.
The Mississippi native pulled out of his commitment to Ole Miss last month, but the Crimson Tide remains his likely destination for the time being. If he makes an announcement this month, Alabama is the overwhelming favorite to be his decision.
Dear’s official visit ended in June, and this pattern has maintained. He is still on commitment watch ahead of his senior season.
“The people at Alabama are the people you want around you, like cool people,” Dear told Touchdown Alabama after his visit.
Kaliq Lockett – 5-Star WR
Lockett will select between Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Texas A&M, and Texas on August 7.
This is supposed to be a Longhorns vs. Alabama fight. The Crimson Tide became involved in Lockett’s recruitment in June after Keelon Russell committed. Later that month, he paid an official visit to the Tide before departing for Texas. The five-star shard pledge came shortly before his visit to the Longhorns, and he had recently returned from Tuscaloosa.
