The Addicks are gearing up for another year in League One and their first full season under Nathan Jones, who previously managed Luton Town, Stoke City, and Southampton.

According to their club website, Academy Director Steve Avory stated, “We’re welcoming 13 new students, which I believe is the most we’ve ever taken as a first-year group in my 24 years at the academy. We believe we have a wonderful group; they were U16 national champions last year, as fans will be aware.

“There are some extremely talented players in there, so we’ve selected 12 of them, and we’ve taken one player from outside in Tate Elliott, a centre-back who was formerly at West Ham, and we felt we needed another centre-back, especially one of his caliber.

“Everyone is looking forward to working with them this season. That already began with them all attending last week’s U18s training camp at Haileybury School with Jason Pearce and Kevin James, which was a huge success.”

Elliott has been signed by Charlton Athletic as a future player and should be kept an eye on in the coming years.

The fact that he is joining from a Premier League academy shows that he is accustomed to being in a professional setting.
He will be keen to demonstrate his abilities in The Valley’s development environment, with the goal of maybe gaining a professional contract over the next few years.

Elliott isn’t the only player who has received scholarship terms from the Addicks.

Jack Belton, Shia-Lee Burnhan, Dionte Davis, Marley Dawkins, Ellis McMillan, Lanre Olatunji, Reuben Reid, Emmanuel Sol-Loza, Bradley Tagoe, Phoenix Valentinem, Sam Washington-Amoah, and Finley Woodham have all done so.

What’s next for Charlton Athletic?

Charlton Athletic’s first-team will play their opening game of the season away at the DW Stadium against Wigan Athletic.

Meanwhile, they have several more pre-season friendlies against Crystal Palace, AFC Wimbledon, and Portsmouth to get back up to speed.
