Lane Kiffin is well-known as one of college football’s biggest characters, whether it’s through hilarious interviews or social media attacks at rival coaches.
In one of his latest articles, Kiffin criticized LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly and Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz over a viral video of Drinkwitz playing guitar with a recruit. Kiffin commented, “Just when I thought BK’s couldn’t be beat,” followed by a facepalm emoji. That, of course, referred to Kelly’s famous video from a few years ago of him dancing uncomfortably with a recruit during a visit.
Many members of the media appear to enjoy Kiffin’s humor, but SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum is not among them. He told the Tulsa World’s Berry Tramel that he doesn’t find Kiffin’s tweets entertaining or fascinating.
“Everyone in the media, Berry, we’re on the older statesman side of it, is in love with Lane Kiffin,” Finebaum said the crowd. “They think he is amusing. I don’t think he’s particularly hilarious. I don’t think his tweets are really intriguing.
Finebaum also stated that he dislikes Kiffin’s coaching style, in addition to the jokes. Finebaum described Kiffin’s coaching as “underwhelming at times.” He cited this as one of the reasons he believes Ole Miss will fall short of making its first College Football Playoff appearance.
So, while some may be sold on Kiffin, Finebaum wants to see it before believing it.
