EDGE Smith Orogbo, a four-star recruit, committed to Texas on Monday.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound edge rusher chose the Longhorns over Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Washington. The Longhorns have now secured commitments from the top two in-state EDGE prospects for the 2025 class.
Orogbo is the 26th overall prospect and 3rd EDGE in the 2025 class. According to On3, he is Texas’ No. 1 EDGE and No. 7 player. He concluded his junior season at Alief Hastings High School with 103 tackles and nine sacks.
“Texas boasts a famous football program with a long history of success. Athletes have access to cutting-edge training facilities, a stadium, and several resources. The present coaching staff’s reputation, expertise, and ability to develop players. The fan population is passionate and dedicated, resulting in a lively and supportive game-day atmosphere.
“That NFL pipeline and strong track record of producing NFL talent and providing exposure to scouts and professional opportunities.” Orogbo informed On3’s Joe Cook.
Following Orogbo’s commitment, Texas’ 2025 recruiting class is ranked 14th overall and eighth in the SEC. Orogbo is the 13th commitment in the 2025 class, which is led by four-star EDGE Lance Jackson.
Texas has received eight in-state commitments, including four-star linebacker Elijah Barnes and four-star running back Rickey Stewart Jr.
