Cortez Mills has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners and their star-studded 2025 recruiting class.
The Sooners continue their recruiting prowess as the month of July begins. Cortez Mills revealed his commitment to Oklahoma football on social media.
Mills becomes the twentieth member of OU’s current 2025 class. He is the group’s eleventh offensive commit and the fifth wide receiver promise of the cycle. Mills chose the Sooners over Clemson, LSU, Miami, and Nebraska.
“I felt like when I visited in the spring, me and Coach Jones had a great connection,” Mills told 247Sports National Analyst Tom Loy. “He was going to be the best person to help me grow and prepare for the next level.” During my formal visit, that sealed the deal. Everyone felt at ease there. My family knew I was comfortable.
According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, Mills is ranked No. 84 overall in the 2025 recruiting class. The four-star wide receiver is also ranked No. 11 in the nation and No. 12 in Florida. According to the 247Sports Network’s rankings, Mills is the No. 196 overall prospect in the ’25 Top247, the No. 21 wideout in the country, and a top-25 prospect within the great Sunshine State.
As a junior, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Mills was the leading receiver for a Homestead team that competed for the Florida 3M championship. He has 79 receptions, 1640 receiving yards, and 18 touchdowns this year. Mills was immediately named a Miami Herald All-Dade 4M-3M selection following the 2023 season. He has also been selected to compete in the 2025 All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
Mills received his offer from the Sooners in January of this year and made his first visit to Oklahoma in March. The outstanding wideout was able to attend the Sooners’ spring game weekend, and from that moment forward, OU football became a main recruiting focus for Mills.
Clemson rose to the top of Mills’ rankings over time. However, as previously said, his return trip to OU for an official visit in Norman pushed things over the top. Mills’ public commitment to the Sooners propels Oklahoma back into the top five in the 2025 recruiting class rankings.
Mills also joins an incredible list of top-five receivers. The four-star prospect from Florida will go to Norman alongside Marcus Harris, Elijah Thomas, Gracen Harris, and Emmanuel Choice. Together, this easily ranks among the top wideout hauls of the ’25 cycle. This group also had a role in this situation, since some of OU’s committed receivers actively recruited Mills to join them.
Mills discovers his new home and puts off some early fireworks at the beginning of July. The Sooners have a strong start to what many consider ‘commit season’ and show no signs of slowing down.
