BREAKING NEWS: Just in Georgia landed the commitment of another top experience star over rivals

The Bulldogs’ third wide receiver pledge in the 2025 class came from a Florida recruit.

Tyler Williams commits to Georgia Bulldogs football: 'We'll be great together'

Tyler Williams lay awake in the middle of the night earlier this week, contemplating his college possibilities.

Georgia, Miami, Florida, Syracuse, or UCF?

It was well past midnight on Tuesday morning that he realized what his decision would be, so he picked up the phone and called his future head coach and wide receivers coach. The only problem: the dead time had begun, and they were on vacation, so they were unavailable for the 1 a.m. phone call. However, recruiting never sleeps, so he received a call back first thing in the morning.

From whom? Kirby Smart and James Coley.

The Armwood (Florida) wide receiver had selected Georgia. His middle-of-the-night phone call may have gone unanswered, but the reaction he received confirmed his decision.

“Honestly, it was one o’clock in the morning. I was thinking and praying about it. I just had a wonderful feeling. “I wanted to do it right away,” Williams told Dawgs247. “So I called him and Coach Smart very late last night. They had begun their vacation, so neither answered the phone, but both called me as soon as they awoke this morning. I chatted to both of them over the phone. “They were very excited about it.”

In response to the decision, they both had a humorous comment.

“They knew they definitely had a chance and were in the running for it,” says Williams. “When I told them, they said, wow, you just made my vacation so much better.”

Williams has been closer to Georgia this spring than is commonly reported. Miami has long been regarded as the most likely destination for Williams.

That changed in recent weeks.

Following his official visit to Georgia, Williams had a feeling that Georgia’s reputation in the collegiate football world would be the most influential element in his decision.

“Georgia is the entire package. Everything they can provide me. It’s a fantastic circumstance in which I believe I can contribute to the squad. “I’m ready to bet on myself,” Williams stated. I don’t care who else picks there. I don’t care about money. I’m simply doing what I believe is good for me.”

With Williams’ pledge, Georgia now has three wide receivers in the 2025 class, alongside Talyn Taylor and Thomas Blackshear.

Williams becomes Georgia’s 16th pledge to the Class of 2025. His pledge boosted the Bulldogs’ 247Sports team composite score to 265.92. That was enough to propel Georgia to No. 3 in the recruiting team rankings, surpassing Notre Dame.

According to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings, Williams is a 3-star prospect. He has a four-star industry aggregate rating. Williams is the 100th ranked receiver and Florida’s No. 73 prospect. Williams averaged over 22 yards per grab and scored 14 touchdowns as a junior.
