The Pistons will soon renounce James Wiseman making him an unrestricted free agent.
Instead of giving Wiseman a 1-year qualifying offer, Detroit prefers to clear more cap space.

Wiseman is still only 23 years old and definitely an extremely talented big guy who will now be an appealing buy-low option for someone in free agency.
This season, he averaged 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game on 61.3 percent shooting while playing 17.3 minutes a game.
Wiseman appeared promising with the Pistons following last year’s midseason trade, starting 22 of 25 games and averaged 12.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest.
His defensive blunders and lack of aggressiveness have hampered him early in his career, but some teams will undoubtedly take a chance on him and, hopefully, give him some playing time, which is exactly what he requires at this point in his development.
Wiseman was drafted during the COVID year and played only three college games before being limited to 84 games in his first three NBA seasons.
You’d like to see him join a rebuilding team where he can play 25-30 minutes per game alongside an established point guard, such as the Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, or Brooklyn Nets.
