Joe Cox, an Ole Miss football assistant, has decided to disregard all of the conjecture surrounding his probable relationship with Kelly Stafford while at Georgia. On Friday morning, the former Bulldogs quarterback broke his silence on the topic by posting an unrelated video.
He’s simply going to move on!
To do so, Cox posted from within Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. His caption had an emoji representing love. There’s nothing more. Short and sweet.

Cox played quarterback for Georgia from 2005 until 2009. He was Matthew Stafford’s backup for his first three seasons at Athens before becoming the starter as a senior.
Kelly Stafford, Matthew’s current wife, recently discussed the early days of their relationship. They did not always agree. In fact, she dated his backup only to make him jealous.
Long story short, it wasn’t a particularly cute relationship at first. I despised him. I loved him. I dated the backup to p— him off, and it worked. He was a nasty boy, too. Matthew was quite sweet, a Southern gentleman, and all that. The backup was the polar opposite, which bothered him. It worked, thank goodness.

Of course, college football fans quickly began to speculate on who the backup could have been. Cox is one option. Joe Tereshinski, Blake Barnes, and Logan Gray are the others.
Although I am 99.99% certain that Kelly Stafford’s “other guy” is Gray, Cox was one of the most qualified choices because he was ranked second on the depth chart for each of Matthew’s three years in college. Lane Kiffin did not shut it down, even though it was Gray and not Cox.
He added fuel to the fire! Ole Miss’ head coach replied “Maybe…” to an image linking his tight ends coach to Kelly Stafford. It was obviously a prank, and Gray appears to be the person, but there is a 25% chance that Cox was Stafford’s backup who “dated” his wife before she married him. We may never know!
Whether or when the truth is revealed, Cox is clearly unwilling to address it. He is solely focused on the Rebels and chooses to disregard all of the online noise by posting from inside the stadium on Friday morning.
