Auburn football had a big recruiting weekend, with over ten official visitors on the Plains to check things out. Four-star safety Eric Winters was one of those visitors, and after spending the weekend with the Tigers, he committed to the team.

Winters, from Enterprise, Alabama, is listed as the #7 safety in the 2025 recruiting class and the state’s #5 prospect. Georgia and Miami were the other colleges vying for Winters, but the family connection and Charles Kelly’s resume put Auburn football ahead of the competition for the safety position.

With the signing of Winters, the Tigers have locked in four of the top ten players in the state of Alabama, pushing Auburn’s class to #6.

Auburn baseball adds two transfers

Meanwhile, Auburn’s baseball coaching staff was active this weekend with the transfer portal. The Tigers acquired two new players to its roster on Friday: brothers Sam and Andrew Dutton, both from Southside, Alabama, and Westbrook Christian High School alumni.

Pitcher Sam Dutton previously played for LSU, where he started 15 games and made 57 appearances over three seasons in Baton Rouge. He had 29 strikeouts and only six walks in 27.2 innings pitched last season. He is the most notable of the five players added to the Tigers’ roster via the transfer portal this summer.

He will be joined on the Plains by his older brother, Andrew Dutton, who is transferring from Birmingham-Southern for his fifth year. He started 49 games as an infielder, scoring seven home runs and 42 RBIs while leading the Panthers with a.340 batting average.
