The Phoenix Suns are still adding to their coaching staff as Miek Budenholzer looks to strengthen the squad in the future. Who will be next to join him? Mike Hopkins, the former University of Washington coach.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Pete Thamel, Hopkins has agreed to join the Phoenix Suns as an assistant coach.

Hopkins played seven seasons with the Huskies and has more than 30 years of college basketball experience, including time as a player. Prior to joining the Huskies, he worked for Jim Boeheim at Syracuse for 22 years.
Hopkins, 54, went 122-110 at Washington, earning PAC-12 Coach of the Year honors twice. He guided the Huskies to the 2019 conference championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. In his first year as head coach, he tutored Markelle Fultz, the future first overall pick.
Hopkins has worked with NBA players throughout his time on the USA Basketball coaching staff. He was named co-coach of the USA Basketball Select Team in 2012, assisting the group in preparation for the Olympics in London, where he served as a court coach as the USA won gold. He recently helped earn gold medals at the 2014 World Championships and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
