Hugh Freeze’s Auburn football program reached a low point on November 18, 2023, when the Tigers fell 31-10 to New Mexico State at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Everyone commented on the loss, including Bryan Harsin, who may be the least equipped person to mock AU.
“HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESN’T WORK HARD,” Harsin said on Instagram in the aftermath, criticizing several of the players he brought to the Plains, as well as the rest of Freeze’s squad.
AL.com’s Michael Casagrande compared Harsin’s petty behavior to those of a scorned lover.
“It’s the kind of thing you’d expect from a scorned lover or a high school crush,” Casagrande began. “Instead, it was a passive aggressive comment from a coach paid a $15.3 million buyout after being fired midway through his second season with a 9-12 record.”
Bryan Harsin has been petty about Auburn football exit despite $15.3 million buyout
Auburn supporters understand that time travel does not exist, and therefore they cannot go back in time to ensure that Allen Greene IV never relied on an agency to help him locate a replacement for Gus Malzahn. Or got into a hot tub with Harsin to discuss the job, as has been suggested but not confirmed by the partaking party.
Harsin is the ghost of Auburn football, refusing to leave despite being paid handsomely ($15.3 million) to do so. Given his apparent abuse by the local media, which is partially true, and supporters, Harsin appears to be carrying a grudge.
As long as he continues to kick Tiger supporters after a terrible loss to a Group of 5 program, he will be the most despised man on the Plains.
It speaks volumes that Harsin holds that title over any Alabama Crimson Tide coach, but here we are.
