TRENDING NEWS: JUST IN Ole Miss makes top-five cut for ’26 four-star

Carson Sneed, a four-star tight end, is one of Ole Miss’ top recruiting targets for the 2026 class. This past April, the Rebels hosted Sneed and his father for a spring visit to see practice and chat with coaches.

Carson Sneed, Donelson Christian Academy, Tight End

On Monday afternoon, the four-star Rebel target announced his top five recruiting institutions, and Ole Miss was among them. Auburn, Ohio State, Louisville, and Tennessee are also among the schools vying for the Nashville native. The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder is listed as the No. 12 tight end in his class and the No. 8 overall prospect out of Volunteer State.

Sneed’s brother plays for the Volunteers in Knoxville, and his 247Sports profile features a crystal ball that favors Tennessee. Though Tennessee has to like their prospects in this recruitment, the last time he spoke with Inside the Rebels in Oxford, he had something to say about it.

Freshmen trio of Diamond Rebels enter transfer portal

Ole Miss baseball has a trio of young players looking for other options through the transfer portal…

The NCAA transfer portal has witnessed increasing activity in the previous week, with well over 1,000 collegiate baseball players having their names formally recorded. On Monday, June 3, coaches could begin contacting athletes.

Three Ole Miss Rebels have been recognized among the more than 1,000. Inside the Rebels heard that freshmen RF Seth Farni, C Trenton Lyons, and RHP Gabe Smith had all placed their names into the transfer portal.

Lyons, as a true freshman, received the most playing time of the group. Lyons played in 22 of Ole Miss’ 56 games in 2024, including seven starts. The Memphis, Tennessee native concluded his true freshman season with 10 hits (.263), three RBIs, one stolen base, and one extra base hit, while striking out 16 times.

Lyons was still adjusting to the higher level of baseball behind the plate, ending with a.929 fielding percentage and six mistakes.

‌Farni, on the other side, appeared in seven games (no starts) and recorded one hit (3B) in seven at-bats this season. The 6-foot, 195-pound freshman last played for the Rebels in April.

Smith did not have the opportunity to play on the mound with the Rebels this season and will now pursue other chances. He also received the 2023 Illinois All-State Baseball Player of the Year award.
