The Bucks would make sense in many ways for Duke’s young star.
Except for a few of guys, the draft is a crapshoot. If you’re Zion Williamson or Jayson Tatum, you know you’ll be drafted early. For the remaining prospects, even if you have a solid concept of where you want to go, a transaction may alter the plan. Another team may take someone unexpectedly and disrupt the predicted order.
It’s simply the nature of the thing.
It would be surprising if Duke’s Kyle Filipowski did not get drafted in the first round, but unusual things do happen.
Milwaukee is one of the teams that could sign Filipowski, and he would be a fascinating fit.
The Bucks aren’t precisely the younger Bucks. Eight of the players are in their thirties, including big man Brook Lopez (36). Danilo Gallinari (6-10) is 35. Bobby Portis (6-10) is 29. Even the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is 29.
This team could need some young players, and Filipowski could be in a terrific situation. One of the advantages of joining that team at this time is that the Bucks can allow him to work his way in at his own speed.
Long story short, it may be a perfect circumstance for Filipowski.
