Tottenham are now expected to make a bid for one of Nottingham Forest’s best players.
A good finish to the 2023/24 season under Nuno Espirito Santo saw numerous players, including Murillo, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, step up to keep the Reds in the Premier League.
However, the timing was not ideal for these players to emerge, as Nottingham Forest is currently being pursued by transfer vultures, who know the Garibaldi might benefit from a significant sale before June 30th due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability guidelines (PSR).
Tottenham are preparing to submit a “huge” proposal.
Tottenham set to make bid for Callum Hudson-Odoi
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are preparing to make a big offer to sign Hudson-Odoi.
The England international had a good finish to last season, scoring three goals in three Premier League games, including a critical double in a 3-1 win against Sheffield United that effectively secured safety.
Hudson-Odoi’s outstanding performances, however, have piqued Spurs’ interest, with the Guardian reporting that the winger was rejected by the club in 2023 before Nottingham Forest brought him to the City Ground.
Football Insider does not specify how much Tottenham intend to give, but a bid is likely from Spurs, who are looking to recruit a new winger this summer.
How much Nottingham Forest could receive from Spurs
As previously stated, no cost was mentioned by Football Insider, however a recent piece in The Sun offers some information on how much Nottingham Forest may expect for Hudson-Odoi.
Evangelos Marinakis is thought to value Nottingham Forest’s No.14 at £30 million ahead of the summer transfer season.
If Tottenham offered that amount, Nottingham Forest would make a significant profit on the £3 million they spent to get Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea.
While it would be unfortunate to lose the £80,000-a-week man so soon after joining, a profit margin of that scale would clearly satisfy PSR and could mean Nuno does not have to sell anyone else.
Keep an eye on this situation as Tottenham prepare to ramp up their chase of Hudson-Odoi.
