A few months ago, Jayden-Jamal Hanne — known as JJ by most of his pals — received a call from an unknown number.

That happens frequently these days when new coaches learn about Hanne’s game. But Georgia’s defensive line coach was one of those fresh names, faces, and numbers when he called two months ago. Scott called with a clear message: he’d learned about Hanne’s past and seen his film, and he wanted to continue the conversation about maybe being strongly recruited by Georgia.

Hanne only needed to come to Athens to workout with Scott.

“Coach Scott called me a few months ago, maybe one or two months. He called and informed me he like my film and story. “He really wanted me to come to camp and get an offer,” Hanne told Dawgs247.

That opportunity arose on Thursday, when Hanne landed in Georgia for the first camp of the summer.

“Since I was on a tour and this was a spot, I knew it was a great opportunity for me to compete and I got out and competed,” he stated.

Hanne was one of the camp’s top performers. He’s bulked up his physique in recent months, and he’s starting to receive more offers as teams take note. Scott quickly informed Hanne that he had more than earned his offer from Georgia.

“He said he loved how I grinded today. I made an effort everywhere. I gave my everything. He stated that’s what jumped out to him, and that, together with my video, prompted him to make me an offer,” Hanne explained.

Hanne previously noted that when Scott first contacted, he told him he “liked his story.” He surely has an intriguing background. The Santa Margarita (Calif.) defensive lineman was not initially present. His father is originally from Nigeria but came to Germany, where he met Hanne’s mother, who is a native German. Hanne was born in Berlin and raised in Germany for the majority of his life. He spent a lot of time playing football in Berlin, and camping for foreign organizations.

He relocated to Santa Margarita in the middle of the 2022 season to begin his football career in the United States. His stock has risen since then.

Hanne is listed as 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds. He is expected to play 3-technique or 4-technique in Georgia’s defensive scheme, but other SEC programs such as Alabama and Texas A&M have also expressed interest. Currently, he ranks as the nation’s No. 121 defensive lineman, but a camp evaluation Georgia’s offer should be considered seriously.

Hanne informed Dawgs247 that he will return for his Georgia formal visit on
