Iowa State football gets LSU transfer cornerback Ryan Robinson.
Iowa State football received a commitment from former LSU cornerback Ryan Robinson on Tuesday evening.
Robinson committed to Iowa State after receiving an offer from the Cyclone coaching staff over the weekend. Coming out of high school, he was a three-star recruit and the top 800 prospect in the 247Sports Composite.
Robinson, a native of the New Orleans region, chose to walk on at LSU rather than accept one of approximately 25 scholarship offers, including several SEC scholarship offers.
Robinson appeared in four games for LSU during his one season there, with the majority of his snaps coming on special teams. Last season, he played one game as a cornerback against Grambling.
Robinson joins Iowa State’s depth chart, with returning starter Myles Purchase. This season, the Cyclones will most likely start Jontez Williams opposite Purchase at cornerback. Robinson appears on the depth chart alongside redshirt senior Darien Porter and JUCO transfer Matthew Bess.
The Cyclones season opens against North Dakota.
