The Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars will enter the 2024 season with something to prove. The Packers want to show the NFL that they are on their path to becoming Super Bowl contenders.
The Jaguars plan to do the same. The Jaguars will now use a former Packer in an attempt to get there.
The Jacksonville Jaguars Sign A Former Green Bay Packers Defender
According to Demetrius Harvey from The Florida Times Union:
The Jacksonville Jaguars waived/injured undrafted free agent receiver Wayne Ruby and allegedly reached an agreement with linebacker Ty Summers. On Wednesday, the team officially announced the former move.
Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reports that Summers will sign with the team after working out with the Jaguars on Wednesday. Summers attended the Broncos rookie minicamp last weekend as a tryout athlete.
The Jaguars signed Ruby and 12 other undrafted players immediately after the NFL Draft ended last month. Ruby grabbed 74 touchdowns for Mount Union over five years, including a remarkable 30 touchdowns in the 2022 season.
In total, he had 362 receptions for 5,624 yards and 74 touchdowns. He averaged 15.5 yards per reception and 100.4 receiving yards per game during his career there.
Ty Summers Played 46 Games For The Packers
Summers played his first three seasons for the Packers after being picked in the seventh round of the 2019 draft. In 2022, he split time between the Jaguars and the Saints before returning to New Orleans last season.
Summers has 60 tackles, one pass defense, and one fumble recovery across 67 regular-season games. In four postseason games, he has made four tackles.
